Sept. 17, 2011- Albany, Georgia
1 Nephi 10:17,19 After hearing the dream of my father, I Nephi, was desirous that I might see, hear and know of these things by the power of the Holy Ghost.
For he that diligently seeketh, shall find; and the mysteries of God shall be unfolded to them.
FTM- I must be diligent in seeking and asking Father for the fulfillment of the desires of my heart. Not only asking but also living in a way that I can receive my desires, exercising the Doctrine of Christ in my life so that I am ready for the mysteries of God to be unfolded to me.
1 Nephi 11:1,2 I had desired to know the things my father had seen, believing that the Lord is able to make them known unto me, I sat pondering in my heart (my desires).
FTM- I need to ponder more on what I desire and what I want to become. Pondering on my desire and desiring it more.
As I sat pondering I was caught away in the Spirit of the Lord (visions and dreams) into an exceedingly high mountain. (Temple)
The Spirit said unto me “Behold, what desirest thou?”
Though the Spirit knows all things, He gives us an opportunity to learn for ourselves by answering questions He asks.
FTM- I just realized this as I am typing up these notes. The entirety of verse 2 follows the pattern of the Temple. We present ourselves before the Lord at His House and have the opportunity to seek answers to questions through revelation. I hadn’t realized before what a perfect example of the Temple experience these verses are. Just like Nephi, as I come to the Temple with sincere desire, having already begun pondering on my questions, I will receive answers from the Lord.
